Ken Sperling has been named senior VP of retiree solutions for Cigna HealthCare’s (Bloomfield, Connecticut) senior segment. Previously Sperling was a consultant for Hewitt Associates. Cigna HealthCare provides medical benefits plans, dental coverage, behavioral health coverage, pharmacy benefits and products and services that integrate and analyze information to support consumerism and health advocacy.

Michael Brodeur was named VP of finance and CFO of MedicalCV (Minneapolis), effective Sept. 17. Previously, Brodeur was CFO of Molecular Diagnostics. MedicalCV makes laser-based surgical ablation systems.

Wayne Kay was named CEO of Response Biomedical (Vancouver, British Columbia). Kay is a former president/CEO and director of Quidel. Response Biomedical makes on-site diagnostic tests for use with its portable RAMP platform for clinical and environmental applications.

Nancy Lynch, MD, was promoted to Principal of Scale Venture Partners (Foster City, California). Lynch joined ScaleVP as an associate in July 2006. Scale Venture Partners, formerly BA Venture Partners, uses a thesis-based strategy to identify innovative development-stage technology and healthcare investments.

• Tenet Healthcare (Dallas) reported that Jennifer Daley, MD, its chief medical officer, will leave the company Sept. 28 to accept the position of chief medical officer at Partners Community Healthcare (Boston). Tenet said it will begin a search for a successor, and in the interim Stephen Newman, MD, COO, will oversee the company’s clinical quality department.
