• Jim Hinrichs has been promoted from senior VP and CFO to executive VP and controller, and Stuart Laws has been promoted from VP, accounting and reporting, to VP and chief accounting officer of Cardinal Health (Dublin, Ohio). Both appointments are effective June 29. Hinrichs and Laws replace Eric Slusser, who has accepted a position as CFO at another public company. Cardinal is a manufacturer and provider of products used by hospitals.

• Duane Lawrence has been named CEO of InferMed (London). Lawrence previously was general manager with MISYS Healthcare Systems International. InferMed is a provider of advanced software solutions for clinical research.

• James Bierman has been named CFO of Owens & Minor (O&M; Richmond, Virginia), effective June 13. Previously, Bierman served as CFO for Quintiles Transnational. O&M is a distributor of national name-brand medical and surgical supplies and a healthcare supply chain management company.

• Jeff Howorth has been named VP, strategic business group, for Toshiba America Medical Systems (Tustin, California) Most recently, Howorth was zone VP, strategic business for Philips Medical Systems. Toshiba America Medical Systems sells and services diagnostic imaging systems, and coordinates clinical diagnostic imaging research.
