• Cardiogenesis (Foothills Ranch, California), a developer of surgical products and accessories used in angina-relieving procedures, named William Ab-bott senior vice president, CFO, secretary and treasurer. Abbott is a financial executive with more than 27 years of experience in multi-industry, international companies, including careers with Newport, Amcor Sunclipse North America and Coca-Cola Enterprises.

Afshin Abedi, PhD, has been appointed vice president of CardioMag Imaging (Schenectady, New York), responsible for the company’s clinical and regulatory activities. CardioMag makes cardiac diagnostic devices called MagnetoCardioGraphs, which re-cord the electrical activity of the heart using highly sensitive superconducting sensors.

Campbell Rogers, MD, will join Cordis (Miami Lakes, Florida) in the newly created role of chief technology officer, effective early this month. Rogers most recently was associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, and director of the cardiac cath-erization laboratory at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Cordis is a Johnson & Johnson company.

Michael McKelvey, PhD, has been appointed president and CEO of eResearchTechnology (Phila-delphia). McKelvey succeeds Joseph Esposito, who will remain with the company in a limited transition role until September. Since 2001, McKelvey has been at Parexel International, where he has served as corporate senior vice president, clinical research services. eResearchTechnology is a provider of a provider of centralized electrocardiographic services and clinical data technology and services.

Eapen Chacko has joined MedicalCV (Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota) as vice president, finance and CFO. He previously was CFO of Possis Medical. MedicalCV’s core technology is the Atrilaze Surgical Ablation System for use in cardiac tissue ablation procedures in open-heart surgery.

• Salick Cardiovascular Centers (Los Angeles) named John Nackel president and chief operating officer; Les Bell executive vice president, secretary and general counsel; and Joseph Luevanos CFO. Nackel’s experience includes 25 years at Ernst & Young, where his roles included global managing director of the Health Care Consulting business, managing director of new ventures and CEO of Sogeti North America. Bell played a major role in the formation of Salick Health Care and served as its president, CFO, secretary, general counsel and as a director from 1983 until its sale in 1997. Subsequently, Bell served as chief administrative officer, executive vice president and director for Bentley Health Care. Luevanos most recently was CFO of Orthopaedic Hospital (Los Angeles).
