A Medical Device Daily

Item Group (Providence, Rhode Island) has reported the formation of Ximedica , a wholly-owned subsidiary to specialize in the development of new medical devices.

Item said that Ximedica was launched from its “rapidly growing medical device practice to focus on the specific needs of the industry, including complete single source, concept-to-supply services.”

Ximedica's core competencies include fully-integrated services in design, development and engineering, plus offshore sourcing, U.S. assembly, quality control and packaging.

Heading Ximedica as CEO is Bob Pelletier with 25 years of experience in taking medical products to market. His team include experts in design, mechanical and electrical engineering and manufacturing, according to the company.

Ximedica can also call on the R&D, overseas sourcing and domestic assembly resources of Item and will be housed in Item's new 81,000 square foot corporate headquarters.

Pelletier said that Ximedica will emphasize a single-source “concept to supply” approach in order to provide “speed to profit.”

Ximedica will be exhibiting at the upcoming MD&M East trade show in New York, June 6-8.

Ximedica has offices in Hong Kong and China.
