• Guardian Technologies International(Herndon, Virginia), a developer of intelligent imaging informatics solutions for homeland security and radiology healthcare, has expanded its sales force by adding four additional sales executives with responsibility for selling Guardian’s FlowPoint radiology information system and picture archiving and communications system (RIS PACS) product. Steven Mahoney will manage sales in the Northeast, Gary Barker in the Northwest, Byron Mudd in California and the Southwest, and Carlos Tomazzi will coordinate sales efforts by Guardian’s distributor, EGC, in Latin America, Portugal and Spain. The FlowPoint product was added to Guardian’s product lineup when it acquired Wise Healthcare Systems, a healthcare IT company providing RIS and PACS to the UK market for 17 years. Martin Richards, founder of Wise Healthcare Systems, is responsible for FlowPoint sales in the UK and Western Europe.

Gregory Brucker, PhD, and Kenneth Grace, PhD, have been added to the research and development team of MedicalCV (Minneapolis). Brucker has more than 15 years of experience working with laser energy and 20 years of experience in the development of medical dev-ices. Grace has more than 16 years of experience in designing robotic systems and micromanipulators applied to cardiac and ophthalmic surgery. MedicalCV is a cardiovascular surgery device manufacturer, focused specifically on products for ablating cardiac tissue as a way to treat atrial fibrillation.
