Plexis (Ashland, Oregon) reported that MedeCus, a new health insurance business serving the Jamaican market, said it would use a Plexis end-to-end solution for its health plan administration and claims adjudication, as well as its web-based reporting needs.

MedeCus, formed in 2004 as a joint venture between Grace Kennedy and Co. and Guardina Life, said it would begin with new plans for employer groups and then expand to serve other segments of the Jamaican population.

MedeCus said it chose Plexis Claims Manager and Plexis EDIWorks, the latter an electronic data interchange tool.

“The Medecus project presented an opportunity for Plexis to employ ‘swipe card’ technology that allows real-time eligibility and pharmacy claims processing,” said Jorge Yant, president and CEO of Plexis. “The flexibility of our software allows us to employ new technologies that fit a wide range of health plans in the U.S. and abroad.”

Plexis said its solutions enable healthcare organizations to reduce costs and streamline claims payments and medical case management, while helping to meet governmental regulations.
