Amgen, of Thousand Oaks, Calif., will buy back up to $50million of common stock over the next four to seven months.

The company says it intends to use the repurchases to partiallyoffset the issuance of common stock under its stock plans foremployees.

As of Aug. 13, 1992, Amgen had repurchased 636,000 sharesat a total cost of $38.4 million under a previous program. Thecompany says that as of June 30, 1992 its cash and marketablesecurities exceeded $488 million and stockholders' equity was$691 million.
