Collagen Corp. on Tuesday announced that a District Court hasdismissed a product liability case brought against the companyby a woman who claimed the company's injectable collagenimplants caused her to develop an autoimmune disease.
The U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts grantedthe company's request for a summary judgment against theplaintiff's claims that collagen implants caused her to developpolymyositis/dermatomyositis.
The case was the 14th product liability suit brought against thePalo Alto, Calif., company (NASDAQ:CGEN) alleging a connectionbetween the implants and autoimmune disease. The companyhas prevailed in 13 of the cases; the first case was settled outof court.
The stock gained 25 cents to $24.75.
