LONDON – AM-Pharma BV raised a further $52 million for the phase III trial of its recombinant alkaline phosphatase product, Recap, in treating sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (AKI), but now faces a delay in starting the study, as the COVID-19 crisis takes up more and more clinical resources.
A team led by researchers at Washington State University (WSU) has developed a nanoparticle technology to deliver cell-killing drugs to shut down the overactive immune response that can cause damage or death in diseases like stroke and sepsis without affecting other cell types or compromising the immune system.
Cytovale Inc., a San Francisco-based medical technology company, has picked up $15 million in financing to advance its technology that enables the early detection of sepsis in the emergency department. Specifically, the company raised $7.4 million in an extension of series B equity financing, co-led by existing investors Breakout Ventures and Blackhorn Ventures. Western Technology Investment also participated, providing a venture debt facility to the company.
