This solution is a new clinician-led monitoring service using the U.S. FDA-cleared Loop System that aims to reduce avoidable hospital visits and improve at-home monitoring of patients who either have, are suspected of having or at risk for COVID-19.

Medtronic rolls out remote monitoring tools for COVID-19

As the cases of COVID-19 continue to mount around the world, hospitals and other providers are looking to virtual tools, apps and other products to help people check their symptoms and get advice on whether medical intervention is needed. To that end, Dublin-based Medtronic plc has launched two new tools to help clinicians assess, monitor and triage patients with respiratory symptoms and concerns about the coronavirus.

Physiq to deploy remote monitoring platform for COVID-19 care

The U.S. FDA has OK’d expanded labeling for Physiq Inc.’s continuous remote monitoring system, Pinpointiq, for use during the COVID-19 pandemic. The machine learning-based platform, including Multivariate Change Index (MCI), will allow clinicians to track physiologic changes in homebound, quarantined or high-risk patients with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 – freeing up hospital beds for the most severe cases and reducing exposure of doctors and nurses to the highly contagious disease.

Diabnext starts commercial sales of a sensor capable of capturing data automatically from insulin pens

PARIS – Diabnext SAS, of Versailles, France, has launched Clipsulin 3XS, a sensor intended to monitor and manage diabetes that the company says is compatible with all insulin pens on the market. “This is the first sensor that automatically reports insulin doses injected by the pen, in both children and adults,” Laurent Nicolas, co-founder and CEO of Diabnext, told BioWorld MedTech.

Current Health raises $11.5M to scale patient management tool

Current Health Ltd., of Edinburgh, Scotland, scooped up $11.5 million in a series A financing that was led by MMC Ventures. The funds are earmarked to scale up Current Health’s patient management platform, with the aim of preventing global illness in 1 million patients by 2021. Legal & General Group plc, a London-based financial services company, was the largest investor in the round and represents Current Health’s first corporate investor.

Grapheal developing intelligent patch to remotely monitor healing of chronic wounds

PARIS – Grapheal SAS, of Grenoble, France, is developing a new generation of dressings integrating an embedded electronic biosensor. The Grapheal device consists of monolayer graphene on a polymer layer 0.3 nanometers thick. “This noninvasive embedded device collects data from the wound. The wireless e-health wound monitoring system, or smart patch, remotely reports the status of chronic wounds to the care team,” Vincent Bouchiat, co-founder and CEO at Grapheal, told BioWorld MedTech.
