Medtronic plc, of Dublin, and orthopedic surgeon Mark Barry have been engaged in a scrum over the company's alleged infringement of two of Barry's patents. However, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has ruled again that Medtronic's challenges to the patents are wide of the mark, in part because of the experimental-use exception.
