More sensor-based technologies that can be implanted in the body are emerging and with the addition of an algorithm, smartphones are becoming accurate diagnostic devices. Nanotechnology's presence is also being felt in the space. During a session at the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (Washington) Annual Meeting and Clinical Expo, panelists gave a brief overview of the direction diagnostic technology was headed.
