The radiopharmaceutical revolution rolls on as Eli Lilly and Co. builds on its prowess in the space with a deal that could bring Aktis Oncology Inc. $1.1 billion. The two plan to develop radiopharmaceuticals targeting cancer. Privately held Aktis also is getting $60 million in cash up front along with an equity investment. The big money would come from preclinical, clinical, regulatory, commercial milestones and tiered royalties. Lilly will select the targets.
Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly and Co. agreed to acquire Point Biopharma Global Inc. for $12.50 per share in cash, or about $1.4 billion, in a deal that would bring the pharma company a pipeline of preclinical and clinical radioligand therapies for cancer. The purchase price is an 87% premium to Point’s closing stock price on Oct. 2, and a 68% premium to the 30-day volume-weighted average price. Shares (NASDAQ:PNT) of Point, also of Indianapolis, rose 84.9%, or $5.67, to close at $12.36 on Oct. 3.
Point Biopharma Global Inc. has released new preclinical data from its pan-cancer fibroblast activation protein-α (FAP-α) targeted program, PNT-2004. The preclinical study focused on assessing the potential of the lead candidate in the PNT-2004 clinical program, [177Lu]PNT-6555, in combination with anti-programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) immunotherapy.
At the recent EANM meeting, Point Biopharma Global Inc. presented preclinical details on the development of 177Lu-PNT2001 and 225Ac-PNT2001 for the treatment of prostate cancer.
