Regulatory submissions ahead on solid phase III data for Valneva’s COVID-19 vaccine

LONDON – Valneva SA’s COVID-19 vaccine, VLA-2001, prompted a stronger immune response with fewer side effects than Astrazeneca plc’s product, according to headline data from the phase III trial. Shares in Valneva (NASDAQ:VALN) shot up by nearly 40% to close Oct. 18 at $39.21 when the data were announced, partly repairing the damage on Sept. 13 when the U.K. government cancelled a $1.65 billion contract with the French vaccines specialist for 100 million doses. Abbisko raises $226M in Hong Kong IPO to develop new solid tumor treatment

Abbisko Cayman Ltd. has raised $226 million through an IPO in Hong Kong, where it launched with an initial price of HK$12.46 (US$1.60) per share. The company, doing business as Abbisko Therapeutics, plans to use about a third of the proceeds for research and development of its lead candidate, ABSK-091, a targeted inhibitor of fibroblast growth factor receptor subtypes 1, 2 and 3 intended as a potential treatment for multiple solid tumors, including urothelial cancer, gastric cancer, cholangiocarcinoma and lung cancer. Omeros ‘confident in data’ post-CRL, type A session ahead

Omeros Corp.’s complete response letter (CRL) from the FDA regarding its BLA for narsoplimab did not come as much of a surprise to Wall Street, but still was enough to drive shares (NASDAQ:OMER) down 26.6% to close Oct. 18 at $5.67, a loss of  $2.06. Read More
