• Courtagen Life Sciences (Woburn, Massachusetts) reported the expansion of their molecular diagnostics menu. The new genetic test, epiSEEK, provides the complete sequence of 327 genes that have been reported in association with epilepsy phenotypes and nonspecific seizure disorders. Courtagen's epiSEEK test expands their current molecular diagnostics menu, which includes tests for mitochondrial disease. The epiSEEK test is conducted at Courtagen Diagnostics Laboratory, a CLIA certified clinical laboratory, and test results will be delivered to clinicians within weeks, much faster than the typical industry standard delivery time of several months.

• Molex (Lisle, Illinois) reported the expansion of its suite of MediSpec interconnect technologies. The MediSpec Micro-Miniature Coiling (MMC) is designed for device designers in cardiac rhythm management, pacemakers and defibrillators, as well as implantable neurological pain management and stimulation. MMC technology features a continuous length coil enabling extrusion of micro gauge (50 to 26 AWG class) wire at virtually infinite lengths.

• Theragenics (Buford, Georgia), a device company serving the surgical products and prostate cancer treatment markets, said Galt Medical (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Theragenics) launched its Centeze centesis drainage catheter line. The Centeze is a needle and catheter system used to drain and aspirate fluid from the body. The Centeze product line provides surgeons with an improved device featuring large side ports for improved centesis drainage, with easy insertion and a secure compression fit needle interface for quick advancement to the drainage site. The Centeze product line combines sheath technology from Galt and specialty needle technology from NeedleTech Products. Both business units are part of Theragenics' surgical products business segment.
