Healthcare products and services company Cardinal Health (Dublin, Ohio) said that George Barrett will become its chairman/CEO following the spinoff of CareFusion on Aug. 31.

The company is splitting into two parts, with CareFusion as the surgical tools, diagnostics and medical supplies maker. The spinoff will be traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the CFN ticker.

Barrett has been vice chairman/CEO of the company's Healthcare Supply Chain Services segment since joining Cardinal Health in January 2008.

Meanwhile, Glenn Britt, 60, was named to Cardinal Health's board. He is the chairman, president/CEO of Time Warner Cable. John Finn, already on the board, was named presiding director of the board and named chairman of the audit committee.
