An article in the Oct. 23 issue about Given Imaging's (Yokneam, Israel) activities in the Europe, Middle East and Africa market sector contained two incorrect statements, according to a public relations person involved with the company. While the story indicated the company is having difficulties with reimbursement in Europe, the PR person said, "there is, in fact, reimbursement in Europe — there are 172.6 million covered in Europe." And, while the story indicated that the Given SB2 capsule must be retrieved manually by the patient after passing through the digestive system, the PR person said patients "do not need to extract the capsule from their feces — they wear a data-monitoring recorder around the waist that records the data." Medical Device Daily regrets the errors.
