• Denise Stefan was named VP of national sales and strategic development at Advantica EyeCare (Clearwater, Florida). Previously, Stefan managed both the sales and service teams for Aetna in the Tampa Bay and Jacksonville, Florida, markets. Advantica EyeCare is a vision plan and management company.

• Stephan Rietiker, MD, has been elected to the board of directors of Eden Spine (Lake Mary, Florida). Rietiker has held various positions in marketing and general management with Roche, Boehringer Mannheim and Schering Plough before becoming VP/GM Europe for Covance Central Laboratory Services. Eden Spine makes spinal motion preservation products.

• Evalve (Menlo Park, California) has named Sean Cleary as senior VP of worldwide sales and marketing and Chris Richardson as VP of sales. Cleary joins Evalve after marketing positions with Boston Scientific and Guidant. Like Cleary, Richardson joins Evalve from Boston Scientific, where he headed regional sales and directed management development for Guidant prior to its acquisition by Boston Scientific. Evalve specializes in percutaneous repair of cardiac valves.

• Johnson & Johnson (New Brunswick, New Jersey) said Sheri McCoy, currently worldwide chairman, surgical care group, has been named worldwide chairman, pharmaceuticals group, effective Jan. 1. McCoy succeeds Christine Poon, who will retire on March 1, 2009. McCoy joined Johnson & Johnson in 1982 as an associate scientist in R&D.
