• DePuy Spine (Raynham, Massachusetts) has introduced its new anterior cervical fixation: the Eagle Plus Rigid and the Swift Plus Dynamic Anterior Cervical Plating (ACP) systems. Eagle Plus Micro Plate is designed for short, one-level constructs in difficult locations such as C2-C3 or adjacent to a previously instrumented level, and Swift Plus includes the Corpectomy Plate, designed for maximum visualization and contouring on longer corpectomy constructs. Both systems feature a new dual sequential locking system comprised of a passive locking ring at the base of the tapered bushing that engages both the screw head and the plate. The Eagle Plus and Swift Plus screws have also been optimized with a more aggressive thread form. DePuy Spine, a Johnson & Johnson company, makes products to treat spine disorders.

• Fujifilm Medical Systems USA (Stamford, Connecticut) introduced the Breast Imaging Diagnostic Workstation (BIDW). Available for any U.S. facility that has implemented Full Field Digital Mammography (FFDM), the BIDW is being introduced specifically to complement Fujifilm's Computed Radiography for Mammography (FCRm) solution and provide better workstation interpretation capabilities for facilities that may use another vendor's PACS. Delivering full Synapse PACS functionality, this new standalone workstation is designed to be a supplement to any facility's existing PACS, and meet the market need for more clinically and operationally advanced systems to support breast imaging. Fujifilm Medical Systems USA is a provider of diagnostic imaging products and network systems to meet the needs of healthcare facilities.

• iCAD (Nashua, New Hampshire) said it has initiated a clinical study for Colon CAD, its virtual colonoscopy CAD product, in partnership with ACR Image Metrix, a subsidiary of the American College of Radiology (ACR). iCAD and ACR Image Metrix, having completed the development portion of the study, are collaborating on study execution including a multi-reader, multi-case (MRMC) clinical study designed to assess the impact of Colon CAD on the accuracy of interpreting CT colonography exams also known as virtual colonoscopies. The study will also assess the sensitivity of Colon CAD for detecting polyps and will measure the impact of iCAD's CT Colon CAD product on interpretation and workflow. iCAD makes computer-aided detection solutions for the identification of cancer.

• NeoMend (Irvine, California) said that its ProGEL surgical sealant has received a recommendation for approval from the FDA's anesthesiology and respiratory therapy devices advisory panel.The panel's decision was based on the results of a multi-center, prospective, randomized clinical trial, which demonstrated ProGEL's success in sealing intra-operative air leaks after lung resection surgery. NeoMend estimates that over 100,000 lung resection surgeries are performed annually in the U.S., with lung cancer comprising the majority of cases. NeoMend makes a family of advanced wound care products.
