A federal jury in Massachusetts has awarded Vascular Solutions (Minneapolis) $4.5 million in damages from Marine Polymer Technologies (Danvers, Massachusetts) for product disparagement.

At issue were marketing statements made by competitor Marine Polymer regarding the safety of Vascular Solutions' D-Stat Dry hemostat product, Vascular Solutions said.

"Rejecting Marine Polymer's counterclaims in their entirety," Vascular Solutions said, the jury found Marine Polymer's statements to be false and that they disparaged the D-Stat Dry product.
