• John Sherwin, PhD, has been named director of laboratory operations for the genetic screening business of PerkinElmer (Waltham, Massachusetts). Sherwin previously was acting chief of the Genetic Disease Branch of the State of California, responsible for the operation of the state's prenatal and newborn screening program. PerkinElmer specializes in health sciences and photonics.

• Predictive Biosciences (Lexington, Massachusetts) said that Peter Klemm, PhD, has been named the company's first president/CEO, as well as a director. Klemm was formerly CEO of GeneOhm Sciences. Predictive Biosciences is an emerging molecular diagnostics company making non-invasive diagnostic products for cancer patients.
