Craig Morford has been named chief compliance officer at Cardinal Health (Dublin, Ohio). In 2007 Morford was appointed by President Bush as acting deputy attorney general, the second highest ranking official in the Department of Justice, overseeing more than 100,000 employees, including 93 U.S. attorney offices, and agencies that include the FBI, the DEA and the ATF. Cardinal makes technologies, including Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis automated dispensing systems, MedMined electronic infection surveillance service.

• Kindred Healthcare (Louisville, Kentucky) reported new appointments and expanded roles for several of its executives. Frank Battafarano has been named COO; Benjamin Breier has been named executive VP and president of the company’s Hospital Division; William Altman has been named senior VP of strategy and public policy; and Kim Martin has been named chief compliance officer. Battafarano has served as executive VP and president of the Hospital Division since 2005. Breier has served as president of Peoplefirst Rehabilitation since 2005. Altman has been with the company since 1996. Martin was previously senior VP of risk management and compliance. Kindred operates 84 long-term acute care hospitals, 228 skilled nursing centers and a contract rehabilitation services business, Peoplefirst.
