• Gray Miller has been named CEO of Intercede Health (Houston). Previously, Miller was VP and general manager of Geriatric Care Services. Intercede is a private medical management company.
• LifeScience Alley (Minneapolis) reported the appointment of new officers to its board: secretary, Doug Astry, GM of diagnostics and drug discovery, SurModics (Eden Prairie, Minnesota); and vice chair, Ruth Lane, president/CEO of AllOut Marketing (Wayzata, Minnesota). LifeScience Alley is a trade association serving the life sciences in the Upper Midwest.
• The orthopedic reconstruction business of Smith & Nephew (S&N; Memphis, Tennessee) has named Todd Durniak as senior VP and general manager for Asia and Australia. S&N specializes in manufacturing products for orthopedic reconstruction.
• WaferGen Biosystems (Fremont, California) reported promoting two members of its management team. Kumar Kastury, PhD, esd promoted from director of assay development to VP of assay development; John McEntee was promoted from director of engineering to associate VP of engineering. The company also reported that Terry Osborn, PhD, company COO, is leaving WaferGen to pursue other interests. WaferGen makes gene expression, genotyping, cell biology and stem cell research systems.
