- Barry Arbuckle, PhD, has been elected 2008 chair of the California Hospital Association (CHA) board of trustees. Arbuckle is president/CEO of MemorialCare Medical Centers, a health care system with six hospitals in Los Angeles and Orange counties and headquartered in Huntington Beach and Long Beach. As one of the largest health care trade associations in the nation, CHA represents nearly 450 hospitals and health systems in California.
- Emageon (Birmingham, Alabama) reported that John Wilhoite has been named CFO/treasurer, effective March 31, 2008. Wilhoite has served as the VP of finance and controller of the company since March 2006, and also as its secretary since early 2007. Emageon specializes in enterprise medical information technology systems for hospitals and health care networks.
- SpectraScience (San Diego) said that it has hired several individuals to drive growth. Todd Pinkowski - director of operations of WavSTAT; Michael Brady, as director of engineering; Charles Negus, as director of operations of LUMA; Glen Freiburg, as VP of regulatory affairs. SpectraScience makes spectrophotometry systems capable of determining whether tissue is normal, pre-cancerous or cancerous without physically removing tissue from the body.
- Francis DiNuzzo has been named executive VP of Strategic Diagnostics (Newark, Delaware). DiNuzzo was most recently an executive in the BioAnalytical unit of Agilent Technologies. Strategic Diagnostics develops antibody technologies.
