SpectraScience (San Diego) said that it has retained Hayden Communications (New York), to provide it with investor relations services.
Jim Hitchin, CEO of SpectraScience, said, “We have selected Hayden Communications because it has demonstrated expertise and resources that will enable us to more effectively develop and communicate our corporate message to the Street as we transition from an R&D-focused business to the commercialization of our WavSTAT and LUMA product lines.”

SpectraScience has filed for 60 patents worldwide on its WavSTAT optical biopsy system and LUMA cervical cancer imaging system used to diagnose tissue to determine if it is normal, pre-cancerous, or cancerous within seconds.
Cellular Technical changes name, symbol
On Nov. 13, 2007, the stockholders of Cellular Technical Services (Miami) voted to change the company’s name to SafeStitch Medical. In connection with the name change, the company’s symbol on the OTCBB will change from “CTSC” to its new symbol “SFES.”
SafeStitch Medical makes endoscopic and minimally invasive surgical devices.
Millstone relocates Memphis operations
Millstone Medical Outsourcing (Fall River, Massachusetts) said it has continued service in Memphis, Tennessee, with minimal interruption after a tornado last week damaged its distribution center there. Millstone relocated operations to a new distribution facility, allowing the company to provide the same distribution and loaner processing services to medical device customers served by that facility.
The company said management and service professionals assessed the situation and worked to move equipment, supplies, and customer product so that processing and packaging services resumed by Friday of last week. The new operations center is 30,000 square feet, with room for planned expansion.
CEO Christopher Ramsden, who said no company personnel were hurt in the tornados that struck the Memphis area, added that “virtually all customer product remained unscathed by the storm and that we were able to resume service to our customers within 72 hours. “ He cited the work of Operations Manager Shawn Martin and other members of the Millstone Memphis team in re-establishing services quickly.
Millstone opened the Memphis service center last August. The location supports the company’s aftermarket services division and offers distribution and loaner processing services to medical device manufacturers.
SanCuro to acquire wound care company
Jerry Gines, chairman/CEO of SanCuro (Salt Lake City), said that the National Hyperbaric Rehab Center, a Nevada-based hyperbaric medicine and wound care provider, has implemented its plan to recapitalize the company’s 2.9 million shares with a 500 for 1 reverse split and has changed the name of the company to SanCuro Corp. effective Feb. 7.
SanCuro has signed a letter of intent to acquire SanCuro Wound Care Systems. SanCuro Wound Care Systems’ principal assets include a contract to manage a wound care and hyperbaric medicine department of Ogden Regional Medical Center, an HCA (Nashville, Tennessee) facility in Ogden, Utah. HCA has 170 hospitals and 113 outpatient centers in 20 states and England under management.
Diagnostic Imaging symbol cleared by OTC
Diagnostic Imaging International (DII; Las Vegas, Nevada) said that the company stock symbol has been cleared for quotation on the OTC bulletin board. The trading symbol is DIIG.
Additionally the company said that its corporate web site is now live at http://www.diig.biz.
DII said it plans to open, acquire and operate diagnostic imaging clinics in Canada and the U.S. The company said its mission is to provide quality MRI services to its clients, delivering convenience, accuracy and the highest standard of care and service.
T-Wave testing now covered by Blue Cross
Cambridge Heart (Bedford, Massachusetts) said that Premera Blue Cross has revised its corporate medical policy to make Microvolt T-Wave Alternans Testing a covered benefit. Premera Blue Cross provides healthcare benefits to more than 1.5 million members in Washington and Alaska.
Cambridge Heart makes products for the non-invasive diagnosis of cardiac disease, particularly the identification of those at risk of sudden cardiac arrest.
Luminetx launches two new divisions
Luminetx (Memphis, Tennessee) said it has launched two new service divisions – LumiCare Equipment Service and Luminetx Financial Services Group – to be led by executive team member Ronn LaBrasca.
The Financial Services offering will allow Luminetx customers – hospitals and clinics – more flexible ways to acquire the company’s VeinViewer technology, the company said.
