Diagnostic imaging services from Foundation Radiology Group (FRG; Pittsburgh) will be available at Brownsville Tri-County Hospital (Brownsville, Pennsylvania) when the hospital reopens later this year.

The Brownsville facility, formerly the Brownsville General Hospital, said it has signed a five-year contract, effective March 1, with FRG for diagnostic imaging services. The hospital also will have the option of extending the contract for an additional five years.

The hospital has been closed since going bankrupt in January 2006. It serves parts of Fayette, Washington, and Greene counties in Pennsylvania.

“The Foundation Radiology Team has been absolutely incredible to work with,” said Richard Hritz, CEO of the Brownsville Tri-County Hospital. “From my earliest involvement in working to bring this hospital back online, their team has been there every step of the way, working with us as strategic partners to ensure that the hospital and our radiology department is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging technology and is staffed by a world-class physician group. Their knowledge and expertise of information technologies, radiology workflow along with their clinical expertise will ensure that Brownsville Tri-County Hospital can provide its patients world class service and diagnosis for the Brownsville Tri-County community.”

FRG provides subspecialty radiological services to smaller hospitals that can’t afford to keep subspecialists on staff. The company said its radiologists can provide readings in musculoskeletal radiology, neurological radiology, interventional radiology, mammography, cardiac CT, brain perfusion, vascular ultrasound, OB-GYN ultrasound and general radiology. The radiology network will be available to Brownsville Tri-County Hospital 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, FRG said.
