Brenda Motheral, PhD, has been named director of the Healthways Center for Health Research (Nashville, Tennessee). Motheral most recently served as senior VP of research and product management for Express Scripts. From 1998 to 2000, Motheral was a faculty member at The University of Arizona College of Pharmacy and also served as the director of the Center for Pharmacy Policy at the University. Healthways Center for Health Research does research on the drivers of health outcomes and management of at-risk behaviors and the progression of disease.
Quintiles Transnational (Research Triangle Park, North Carolina) reported that Christopher Cabell, MD, a cardiologist and clinical investigator, has joined its Medical & Scientific Services group in Global Clinical Development Services and will provide U.S.-based cardiology expertise for Quintiles ECG Services. Cabell previously held appointments at the Duke University School of Medicine within the Duke Clinical Research Institute, including co-chair and principal investigator for a Duke/FDA Cardiac Safety partnership. Quintiles Transnational provides services in drug development, financial partnering and commercialization for the pharmaceutical, biotech and healthcare industries.
