Paul Hoedeman has been named CFO of Access Genetics (Minneapolis). Hoedeman was formerly CFO of Edwin Watts Golf. Access Genetics is a molecular diagnostics service and technology company.

Michael West has been named CEO of BioTime (Emeryville, California). West has been on the BioTime board since 2002. BioTime makes blood plasma volume expanders.

The National Medical Association (NMA; Washington) reported the promotion of Byron Sogie-Thomas, as director of health policy. NMA said that Sogie-Thomas’ accomplishments at the association have included maintaining its strategic partnerships in the policy arena, preparing NMA leaders for public policy statements and appearances, and sincreasing the number of trained advocates among the organization’s membership. NMA says it is the nation’s oldest and largest medical association representing the interests of more than 30,000 African-American physicians and their patients.

Terri Wells has been named VP and general manager of Pioneer Surgical Technology (Marquette, Michigan). Wells previously was VP of corporate solutions at Smith & Nephew Orthopaedics. Pioneer makes spinal and orthopedic implants.
