• Eliza (Beverly, Massachusetts) reported the promotion of two key company executives. Alexandra Drane, co-founder and formerly Eliza’s senior VP, was named president. Frank Rizzo, an Eliza board member, was named senior VP. Eliza makes telephone-based, speech-enabled healthcare products.

Jay Norman has been named president of the consulting business of Quintiles Transnational (Research Triangle Park, North Carolina). Norman previously was president/CEO of Diamond Management and Technology Consultants. Quintiles Transitional specializes in drug development, financial partnering and commercialization.

Allan Christensen has been named VP of technical services for Radlink (Redondo Beach, California). Most recently Christensen was an independent consultant. Radlink supplies medical imaging systems to healthcare providers including digital imaging to private practices.

• St. Jude Medical (St. Paul, Minnesota) reported the appointment of several key executives to new roles, effective Jan. 1, 2008. St. Jude said it is creating two new group president roles. Joe McCullough, currently president of St. Jude Medical International division, and Mike Rousseau, currently president of the U.S. division, will be promoted to these newly created roles. George Fazio, currently president of the cardiovascular division, will become the new president of the U.S. division, and Denis Gestin, currently president of St. Jude Medical Europe, Middle East, Africa and Canada, will become the new president of the International division. Gary Taylor, currently VP/GM of the neuromodulation business internationally, will become the new president of St. Jude Medical Europe, Middle East, Africa and Canada. Amy Boyle, currently VP of marketing for the International division, will be promoted to the newly created position of VP of corporate brand and marketing. Frank Callaghan, currently VP of R&D for the atrial fibrillation division, will become president of the cardiovascular division. St. Jude specializes in cardiac rhythm management, atrial fibrillation, cardiac surgery, cardiology and neuromodulation.

Jim Slevin was named senior director of account management of integrated health management for Valeritas (Parsippany, New Jersey). Slevin previously was account manager for CV Therapeutics. Valeritas specializes improving clinical and humanistic outcomes for patients, with an initial focus on the treatment of diabetes.
