A Medical Device Daily
The Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA; Washington) reported the appointment of Thomas Novelli as the new director of federal affairs.
Novelli joins MDMA after serving on the U.S. Senate committee on finance for Senator Charles Grassley from 2003 to 2007. At the committee, Novelli worked on several areas directly affecting the medical device and pharmaceutical industries including reimbursement, drug and device safety and approval, and fraud and abuse in the Medicare and Medicaid programs.
At MDMA, Novelli will work on a number of issues facing the industry, including timely and adequate reimbursement, efficient FDA reviews, and open market access.
“Novelli has a unique perspective of the medical device industry given his time working on the Senate committee on finance. His efforts will help ensure that the voice of innovative, entrepreneurial medical technology companies is well represented in Washington,” said Joe Kiani, CEO/chariman of Masimo (Irvine, California), and MDMA chairman.
MDMA is a national trade association representing entrepreneurs in the medical device industry.
