Vivek Jain was named executive VP of strategy and corporate development of Cardinal Health (Dublin, Ohio). Jain most recently was senior VP of healthcare strategy and business development of Philips Medical Systems. Cardinal Health makes medical and surgical products and distributes pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.

S.B. Whittenburg was named president/CEO of HealthTronics (Austin, Texas). Whittenburg has been serving as acting president/CEO since late May. HealthTronics is a provider of urology services and products.

Denny Steger has been named VP of regulatory affairs and reimbursement for PlaCor. Steger previously was head of the regulatory affairs group at Medical CV. PlaCor is a manufacturer of diagnostic tests.

Commissioner Roel Campos of the Securities and Exchange Commission (Washington) said that he intends to leave the commission in a month’s time and plans to return to the private sector. Currently serving his second term, Campos was first appointed by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the U.S. Senate as a commissioner in August 2002.
