Peter Donato was named corporate VP and CFO of Iris International (Chatsworth, California). Donato previously served as CFO for Gamma Medica-Ideas. Iris International is a medical test maker.

• Haemonetics (Braintree, Massachusetts) said the board of directors has approved expanded roles for several executives. Chris Lindop, CFO and VP of business development will also take on the responsibility for investor relations as well as the company's Arryx business. Prior to Haemonetics, Lindop had been CFO of Inverness. Brian Concannon, who joined the company in 2004, was appointed to the position of COO. Lisa Lopez, who joined the company in 1988, was appointed to the new position of VP of corporate affairs. Jim O'Shaughnessy, who joined the company in 2004 as deputy general counsel, is promoted to general counsel. Haemonetics makes automated blood processing systems.

Greg Anderson was named VP of sales of OptiMedica (Santa Clara, California). Prior to OptiMedica, Anderson served as VP of U.S. sales for IntraLase. OptiMedica makes ophthalmic technologies focused on improving patient outcomes.

Susan Atkinson, PhD, has been promoted to senior VP of global biostatistics and data management for PPD (Wilmington, North Carolina). Atkinson joined PPD in 1991 as a senior biostatistician and has held a series of leadership positions with increasing responsibility. PPD is a contract research organization providing discovery, development and post-approval services as well as compound partnering programs.

Lieutenant General Harley Hughes was named president/CEO of TVI (Glenn Dale, Maryland). Hughes was appointed interim president/CEO in April 2007, and has been a member of TVI's board since 2003. TVI is a supplier of first receiver and first responder products and a provider of event shelter and equipment rentals.

Eric Pluckhorn was named senior VP of sales and marketing of Vyteris (Fair Lawn, New Jersey). Most recently, Pluckhorn held a senior management position within Euro RSCG Life. Vyteris makes LidoSite, which provides patients with rapid pain relief from procedures involving venipuncture, intravenous cannulation and laser ablation of superficial skin lesions.
