• Greg Kricorian, MD, has been named chief medical officer of Artes Medical (San Diego). Previously Kricorian was senior director of medical affairs for Valeant Pharmaceuticals International. Artes makes aesthetic injectable products.
• Ascent Healthcare Solutions (Phoenix) reported the return and promotion of key personnel. Eric Varty returns to Ascent as VP of R&D. Kevin Liszewski has also rejoined Ascent as VP of corporate accounts. Varty founded MediCycle in 2006, which disinfects and recycles medical waste and precious metals for hospitals. Liszewski previously served as director of corporate accounts for Alliance from 2003 through 2006. Ascent is a third-party reprocessor of single-use medical devices.
• Bill McGrath was named VP of engineering for Covaris (Woburn, Massachusetts). McGrath was previously with Affymetrix. Covaris manufactures life science instruments.
• Thomas McCarthy has been named director of business development for CRH Medical (Vancouver, British Columbia). CRH says McCarthy has more than 20 years experience in U.S. healthcare as a senior business development and operating executive. CRH makes a single use, disposable, hemorrhoid banding system through its Center for Colorectal Health facilities.
• Laura Kukowski was named regional VP of Midwest sales for Critical Signal Technologies (CST; Farmington Hills, Michigan). Kukowski was most recently employed by Health Watch. CST makes in-home alert and monitoring systems for people with physical challenges.
• Gary Saxton was named president/CEO of FlowMedica (Fremont, California), effective July 30. Saxton is currently the executive VP and COO of BioSphere Medical. FlowMedica specializes in targeted renal therapy.
• Douglas Bryant has been named executive VP and COO of Luminex (Austin, Texas). Bryant joins Luminex from Abbott. Luminex makes life science and biological testing technologies.
