• HealthStream (Nashville, Tennessee) reported that Susan Brownie tendered her resignation as CFO. Brownie will remain in her position through the filing of the company's Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2007. Arthur Newman, HealthStream's executive VP, will serve as interim CFO until the company completes its search to fill the position. HealthStream provides learning and research solutions for healthcare.

Venkatakrishna Shyamala, PhD, was hired as senior VP of R&D for Innovative Biosensors (Rockville, Maryland). Shyamala brings to IBI over 17 years of R&D experience with companies such as Digene and Chiron. Innovative Biosensors is a private company developing technologies for the rapid detection of pathogens in biodefense applications and human clinical diagnostics.

Len Farris has been named VP of marketing for OmniSonics Medical Technologies (Wilmington, Massachusetts). Farris most recently worked at Boston Scientific as global director of marketing. OmniSonics is focused on developing products to treat vascular occlusive disease.

John Kleijne was named VP of commercialization and partnerships, Europe for VisEn Medical (Woburn, Massachusetts). Kleijne will be based in the Netherlands. Kleijne previously worked for GE Healthcare. VisEn makes fluorescence in vivo imaging products.

• VNUS Medical Technologies (VNUS; San Jose, California) reported the resignation of Charlene Friedman, VP of general counsel and corporate secretary, effective July 20. VNUS makes products for the minimally invasive treatment of venous reflux disease.
