Joseph Smith, MD, PhD, has been named VP of microelectronic technologies for Cordis (Warren, New Jersey) and will lead the company's efforts to develop implantable microelectronic technologies in the management of cardiovascular disease. Most recently, Smith served as senior VP and chief medical officer of the CRM business at Guidant. Cordis, a business unit of Johnson & Johnson (Mew Brunswick, New Jersey), makes interventional vascular technology.

W. Eugene Sanders Jr, MD, was named VP of medical affairs and chief medical officer of InnerPulse (Research Triangle Park, North Carolina), effective September 2007. Sanders currently serves as director, clinical cardiac electrophysiology and pacing; associate director, cardiovascular diagnostic and interventional laboratories; and, associate professor of medicine & pathology, division of cardiology at the University of North Carolina Hospitals. InnerPulse is a private company specializing in technology for treating abnormal heart rhythms.

Todd Clearwater has been named senior VP of sales for Interventional Spine (Irvine, California). Clearwater most recently was the regional sales manager for Kyphon. Interventional Spine is a private company focusing on diseases of the spine.
