PreMD not in AMEX compliance
Predictive medicine company (PreMD; Toronto) said it received a letter from the American Stock Exchange (AMEX) stating that AMEX has determined that PreMD is not in compliance with certain continued listing standards, as set forth in Part 10 of the AMEX company guide and therefore has become subject to the procedures and requirements of Section 1009 of the Company Guide.
In order to maintain its AMEX listing, PreMD must submit a business plan to the AMEX by May 24, 2007, advising AMEX of the action PreMD has taken, or will take, to bring it into compliance with the relevant continued listing standards within a maximum of 18 months. If, after evaluation by the listing qualifications department, the AMEX determines that PreMD's plan provides a reasonable demonstration of an ability to regain compliance with the continued listing standards within 18 months, PreMD's plan will be accepted and PreMD may be permitted to continue its listing during the plan period.
CAP renames Snomed international unit
The College of American Pathologists (CAP; Northfield, Illinois) is renaming its Snomed international division. The division will now be called Snowmed terminology solutions, following the recent announcement regarding the formation of the international health terminology standards development organization (IHTSDO) that acquired the intellectual property rights of Snomed clinical terms (Snomed CT) and its antecedents from the CAP.
Snomed terminology solutions focuses on education, training and consulting related to Snomed CT and its implementation.
Consulting services include assistance implementing Snomed CT into systems; mapping code sets to Snomed CT; building and maintaining Snomed CT subsets and extensions; modeling content (content development); validation; migration from earlier versions of Snomed; and project-specific coding.
"As global adoption of Snomed CT continues to increase, the demand for its implementation into electronic health applications grows," said CAP president Thomas Sodeman, MD, FCAP. "Snomed terminology solutions assists in terminology implementation as well as educating the marketplace about Snomed CT's role in daily use of clinical terminology."
