Symmetry Medical (Warsaw, Indiana), an independent provider of products to the global orthopedic device industry, reported a partnership with Solstice Medical (Fort Wayne, Indiana), a supplier of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology.

Symmetry’s surgical instruments and cases can be embedded with Solstice RFID technology, providing “total supply chain integration” to the companies’ customers, they said. The technology includes Solstice RFID engineering, bio-engineered RFID tags, site and enterprise tracking software, hardware, integration, maintenance and support.

Brian Moore, president/CEO of Symmetry, said, “This partnership allows both companies to service a shared customer base by providing best-in-class product with the equivalent in an advanced asset life cycle management systems.”

Daniel Sands, president/CEO of Solstice, said, “The Solstice Partner program is designed to encourage RFID technology deployment at the point-of-manufacture, create technology harmonization and save costs for secondary operations to initialize the technology.

Symmetry also develops these products for companies in other segments of the medical device market, including dental, osteobiologic and endoscopy sectors and provides limited specialized products and services to non-healthcare markets, such as the aerospace market.
