Antonius Schuh, PhD, has been appointed CEO of Arcturus Bioscience (Mountain View, California) and will be elected a member of the board of directors. Schuh succeeds Thomas Baer, PhD, founder and former CEO, who resigned at the end of last year. Baer has been named a consulting professor in the Applied Physics Department at Stanford University and continues to serve as a director of Arcturus. Schuh joins Arcturus from Sequenom, where he served as CEO from May 2000 to last month. Separately, Richard Kniss, who has served as a member of the Arcturus board since January 2002, will be appointed non-executive chairman. Kniss was senior vice president and general manager of the Life Science and Chemical Group of Agilent Technologies prior to his retirement in 2001. Arcturus makes Laser Capture Microdissection and reagent systems for microgenomics, with systems installed in cancer centers and other research and clinical laboratories worldwide.
