BioWhittaker Inc. said Friday it filed a patent-infringement lawsuitagainst Procordia AB, Pharmacia Diagnostics AB, Pharmacia USAInc., Pharmacia Biotech Inc., Kabi Pharmacia Inc. and AmericanMedical Laboratories Inc.The allegations involve BioWhittaker's diagnostic allergy testingsystem. The Walkersville, Md., company's patent deals with a methodfor diagnosing allergies through blood testing.The suit, filed in U.S. District Court of Virginia, alleges that thedefendants were and still are manufacturing and selling products basedon BioWhittaker's patented technology. It seeks unspecified damagesand payment of all gains, profits and advantages derived from thealleged infringement.
