UniSyn Fibertec Corp. said it has completed its previouslyannounced acquisition of BioProbe International Inc. of Tustin,Calif., for an undisclosed amount.

With the purchase, the San Diego company said it has changedits name to UniSyn Technologies Inc. Acquisition of BioProbe, amanufacturer of affinity chromatography products for thepurification of monoclonal antibodies and related proteins,allows UniSyn to enter the purification market, in addition toits niche of providing biotech companies with scale-upmaterials.

American Cyanamid had owned about 25 percent of BioProbe'sstock, which was converted to UniSyn shares, giving Cyanamid12 percent of UniSyn stock.

The transaction reduces to 28 percent the equity position heldby Synbiotics Corp. (NASDAQ:SBIO) of San Diego, which hadowned 48 percent of UniSyn.
