MicroProbe Corp. has signed an agreement with OlympusOptical Co. Ltd. to jointly develop a diagnostic system based onMicroProbe's DNA probe technology.
Both companies will contribute proprietary technology towardthe development of an automated diagnostic system for therapid identification of certain disease pathogens. Olympus ofTokyo will provide the bulk of the funding. No equityinvestment is involved. Others terms were not disclosed.
The new diagnostic system will be based on one developed bythe privately held Garden Grove, Calif., company for its ownproducts, which include a DNA probe for the diagnosis ofbacteria associated with periodontal disease and a DNA probeassay for detection of pathogens associated with vaginitis.
