NEUREX, BIOCRYST NAME PRESIDENTSNeurex Corp. of Menlo Park, Calif., on Friday named PaulGoddard to replace James N. Wilson as president and chiefexecutive officer, effective March 1.

In another announced change at the top, BioCryst Inc. ofBirmingham, Ala., appointed Frederick Dechow as president ofthe molecular drug-design company.

Neurex's Goddard was previously a senior vice president anddirector of the Japan/Pacific region for SmithKline Beecham'spharmaceutical group. Wilson recently left Neurex to becomepresident and chief operating officer of Syntex Corp. of PaloAlto, Calif.

At BioCryst, Dechow replaces Thomas Glenn, who is moving toDuke University. Dechow joined BioCryst a year ago asexecutive director for development.

In other appointments: Eugene Corcoran was named chairmanof the board of BioResearch of Dublin, Ireland, succeedingProfessor G. Wrixon. Corcoran previously worked with theagricultural division of ICI of Billingham, U.K. ... The intellectualproperty law firm of Townsend and Townsend of Palo Alto,Calif., hired attorney Karen Dow, previously senior patent andlicensing attorney for Triton Biosciences of Alameda, Calif., forits biotechnology practice. ... Lifecodes Corp. of Valhalla, N.Y.,promoted Robert Jones to vice president of sales andmarketing. John Huss was appointed vice president formarketing.
