LIFECORE'S EXPORT OK'd; NIH DIRECTOR NOMINATEDLifeCore Biomedical Inc. (NASDAQ:LCBM) of Minneapolis saidThursday that the Food and Drug Administration grantedpermission for it to export synthetic sodium hyaluronate as amedical device. It will supply Hyal Pharmaceutical Corp. ofToronto, which is conducting clinical trials of the product'spotential use as an adjunct to medical treatment.

As anticipated, President Bush said he will nominatecardiologist Bernadine Healy as director of the National Institutesof Health. A deputy director of the White House Office ofScience and Technology in the Reagan Administration, Healy isnow chairman of the Research Institute at the Cleveland ClinicFoundation.
