Vuno aims for Kosdaq listing by early 2021

HONG KONG – Seoul, South Korea-based Vuno Inc. reported that it plans to list on South Korea’s Kosdaq bourse either by the end of 2020 or early next year, CTO and cofounder Kyu-hwan Jung told the 2020 Bioplus Interphex Korea Conference. After receiving A ratings in the recent technology evaluations by assessment institutions NICE D&B and Korea Enterprise Data, Vuno submitted a preliminary examination application to the bourse on July 28 that is currently underway, the company said.

HONG KONG – Incheon, South Korea-based Celltrion Inc. is planning to launch two of its three rapid test kits in the U.S. as it plays its part in the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Celltrion said Aug. 12 that its Sampinute COVID-19 Antigen MIA and Diatrust COVID-19 IgG/IgM rapid test kits will launch in the U.S. by the third week of August.

Vuno contemplates partnership offers after bagging $2.5M investment from Dong Wha

HONG KONG – Seoul-based Vuno Inc. faces the happy dilemma of being able to choose from multiple partnership offers to add to the string of recent deals inked by the South Korean company. The company’s most recent deal is an agreement with Dong Wha Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. for a ₩3 billion ($2.5 million) investment. For Dong Wha, the deal is a culmination of a three-year effort to diversify its business via active investments in the latest health care trends.

Study in South Korea makes case for ablation for atrial fibrillation

Makers of devices for ablation for atrial fibrillation (AF) have struggled at times to overcome clinician skepticism, but a new report in a respected medical journal might persuade some of those cardiologists. A study of nearly 28,000 AF patients in South Korea demonstrated that device therapy yielded lower rates of death and admission for heart failure compared to medical therapy, suggesting that ablation is a valid alternative to medical therapy, at least for patients in Asia.

Lunit preps for FDA approval, series D funding after getting EC nod

Hong Kong – South Korea’s Lunit Inc. is currently in the process of applying for U.S. FDA approval for Lunit Insight Mmg, its AI software that analyzes mammography images to detect breast cancer. Other markets that the company targets entering include South America, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific, Jussarang Lee, communications manager at Lunit, told BioWorld. Founded in 2013, the Seoul-based company uses artificial intelligence to develop cancer diagnostics and therapeutics.
