Getting cell therapies to work against solid tumors is proving difficult – but two biopharma firms have begun early-stage studies with technologies that aim to crack this tough nut. Gadeta B.V. and Apeiron Biologics AG are using two different approaches to cell therapy that they hope will be effective against tough-to-treat solid tumors.
PARIS – Microsure BV reported closing a $3.25 million funding round to develop its supermicrosurgery robot, Musa. This series B round was led by Dutch investment agency Invest-NL NV. The other 50% of the funding came from existing Dutch shareholders Brabant Development Agency NV and venture capital partners Innovation Industries Fund, as well as from Ten Cate Investreingsmaatschappij BV.
Onward NV secured $32 million in a new financing round led by Invest-NL and Olympic Investments. All the company’s existing investors also participated in the round, including medical technology investors LSP, Inkef Capital, Gimv, and Wellington Partners. The new funds will support Eindhoven, Netherlands-based Onward's development and commercialization of its Arc-Im and Arc-Ex spinal cord systems, designed to provide targeted spinal cord stimulation to help people with spinal cord injuries regain movement and independence.
