Tax inversion may or may not be the policy flavor of the month, but it is drawing substantial scrutiny from the Oval Office and hence is on the front burner, thanks in part to the acquisition of Covidien (Dublin) by Medtronic (Minneapolis). There are those who believe the problem should and can be resolved with legislation that fixes the corporate tax code, although the very short time left to the 113th Congress suggests tax reform or any legislation related to inversion will have to wait until 2015. However, at least one observer thinks the Obama administration may be willing to take up tax reform on a revenue-neutral basis.
