Transformation has been the underlying theme of this year's Cleveland Clinic Medical Innovation Summit, beginning with the New Venture Healthcare Challenge on Monday (Medical Device Daily, Oct. 15, 2013) and continuing through former Sen. Tom Daschle's talk at dinner. Daschle told the roughly 1,500 Summit attendees that this country is on the brink of a historic transformation that, over the next decade, will change the healthcare landscape dramatically.

Downtown Cleveland was abuzz with the feeling of rivalry Sunday night after the Detroit Lions beat the Cleveland Browns on the Browns' home turf. And on Monday morning at the brand new Global Center for Health Innovation, a friendlier competition was born as nearly a dozen early-stage companies positioned to solve some of healthcare's most pressing challenges competed in the New Venture Healthcare Challenge. The Challenge was part of the 11th annual Cleveland Clinic Medical Innovation Summit which runs through Wednesday.
