It has emerged over the past decade as a hub of bioscience in the Southeast with top research organizations such as the Georgia Institute of Technology (Goergia Tech), the University of Georgia (Athens) and Georgia State University; teaching institutions including Emory University and Morehouse School of Medicine; government entities and nonprofits like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Arthritis Foundation, the American Cancer Society, and the Task Force for Global Health (Decatur).
