While the laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB) procedure has been around for close to 10 years in the U.S. and 18 years worldwide, concerns have been raised in recent years regarding the safety and efficacy of the Lap-Band adjustable gastric banding system, made by Allergan (Irvine, California), specifically with respect to average weight loss and complications.
