Device selection in heart failure is often tricky because of the number of associated rhythm abnormalities, but a new study confirms that there are two questions about the function of the right ventricle in heart failure rather than just one. The data from this study, drawn from a national registry, suggest that patients with non-specific intraventricular conduction delay (NICD) are more likely than those with right bundle branch block (RBBB) to benefit from cardiac resynchronization plus defibrillation, a finding that could lead to a significant increase in the volume of cardiac leads implanted in patients in the years to come.
